Retired WWE Star Reflects on Vince McMahon Documentary: “I Don’t Have Any Bad Words for Vince”

The docuseries “Mr. McMahon,” which explores the life and controversies of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, features insights from various former WWE stars regarding their experiences with him. While many stories have emerged highlighting McMahon’s negative side, retired WWE star Titus O’Neil expressed nothing but gratitude for his former boss.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, O’Neil, who enjoyed a decade-long career under McMahon’s leadership, emphasized that McMahon’s contributions to professional wrestling are significant and lasting. He acknowledged the unfortunate circumstances that led to McMahon’s disgrace but maintained a positive outlook.

“At the end of the day, what he built cannot be erased. It’s sad that the situation came to what it came to, but I don’t have any bad words for Vince,” said O’Neil, a former WWE 24/7 Champion. “It’s very interesting to hear different perspectives on things, but I’ll forever be grateful for what Vince McMahon built—the platform that he created for so many people. He’s human, just like anyone else.”

O’Neil did experience some of McMahon’s idiosyncrasies firsthand, notably when he received a 60-day suspension for holding McMahon’s arm on-screen, a move that did not sit well with the then-chairman.

Initially involved in the six-part docuseries, McMahon stepped away from filming following the revelation of sexual assault allegations against him in 2022. Ahead of the series’ airing, he publicly criticized the project, claiming it misrepresented him and suggesting that the narrative was manipulated by its creators to deceive viewers. Reports also surfaced that he attempted to buy back the rights to the docuseries before it was released.
