Former AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston is currently on the mend from a serious knee injury, and his dedicated fanbase is eager for his return to the ring. Reports indicate that Kingston may be sidelined until spring 2025, which would mean he could be out for nearly a full year.
In a recent interview on The DAVINci Report, Kingston expressed his desire to return by May 2025, or possibly even as early as April, although he emphasized that he wouldn’t rush the process. “So the injury originally happened in May [2024]. I would like to be back in May [2025], maybe even April, something like that, you know what I mean? But I’m not rushing it,” he said.
Kingston’s cautious approach to recovery stems from his belief that AEW is currently thriving without him. “To be honest with you, AEW right now doesn’t really need me at this point in time, in my opinion, with what’s going on, you know what I mean? They’re doing their thing, and I think having me around right now may mess up some plans, which I like doing, but also me trying to be a company guy. I’m trying, I’m trying. You don’t want to mess up the plans too much,” he explained.
While Kingston is recovering, he’s been keeping an eye on the developments in AEW, particularly regarding his friend Jon Moxley. He noted a shift in Moxley’s attitude, which he sensed through their usual text exchanges. However, Kingston mentioned that it had been a while since he last spoke to Moxley, a fact that he viewed as a concerning sign.
