William Regal Clears Air About AEW Departure And Tampering Allegations

Former AEW manager and current WWE Vice President of Global Talent Relations, William Regal, has been accused by AEW President Tony Khan of using Khan’s mother’s illness as a pretext to exit his AEW contract and allegedly tampering with AEW contracts upon his return to WWE. In a recent statement on X (formerly Twitter), Regal addressed these allegations.

“While it fits some agendas, I have a lot of people at AEW who can vouch for me. I went to AEW because Bryan Danielson asked me to help,” Regal explained in response to a fan. “Find me one person who says otherwise. I was there from 10 am until 6:15 pm (EST) training anyone who wanted to come. I never attended a single production meeting. I was there purely to help, and I didn’t inquire about anyone’s contract status.”

Regal also shared that he assisted talent in the ring before shows, and afterward, donned a suit to watch the events backstage.

“I never called Tony when his mother was ill,” Regal clarified. “He called me, and once he told me his situation, I ended the call and we spoke two weeks later. For the record, my deal was up on December 28th—that’s when I left.”
