After weeks of avoiding his former WrestleMania rival, GUNTHER has finally agreed to Sami Zayn’s challenge for a World Heavyweight Championship match during “WWE Raw.” Zayn’s persistent prodding led to this long-awaited acceptance, especially after GUNTHER recalled the disappointment he felt when telling his father that he had lost to an “inferior opponent” in their last match. This time, GUNTHER expressed concern for his legacy, which made him hesitant to accept the challenge.
In response, Zayn fired back, stating that GUNTHER would now have to admit to his father that he was a coward. This statement provoked the “Ring General,” who retaliated with a lariat followed by a series of powerbombs, ultimately declaring that their match would happen. The bout was later confirmed for next week’s “WWE Raw.”
Zayn’s quest to challenge GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight title began after GUNTHER successfully defended his championship against Randy Orton at Bash In Berlin. Although Zayn faced an uphill battle, having just lost the Intercontinental title to Bron Breakker in August, he still holds a notable victory over GUNTHER. Zayn defeated the Austrian at WrestleMania for the IC title, making him one of only four WWE Superstars to have bested GUNTHER in the ring.
